Minister for Aged Care and Seniors, Sam Rae, has confirmed that the long-awaited new Aged Care Act and Support at Home (SaH) program will officially commence on 1 November 2025, with no further delays. In a recent interview on ABC Melbourne, the Minister addressed key sector issues, including the ongoing waitlist for Home Care Packages and concerns around the aged care Star Rating system.
Mr Rae reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering a more sustainable, tailored, and efficient care model—particularly for high-priority individuals. The reforms aim to improve transparency, reduce wait times, and ensure older Australians receive respectful, high-quality support at home or in residential care.
