The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has launched its updated Regulatory Strategy for 2024-2025, a vital document guiding all regulatory actions to safeguard older Australians.

Today’s blog highlights the article in the Spring edition of the Aged Care Today magazine, where Commissioner Janet Anderson outlines how the refreshed strategy reflects the Commission’s evolution since 2020, and showcases an advanced approach to regulation with an emphasis on fairness, transparency, and effective enforcement.

The document highlights expectations for providers and workers, encouraging genuine partnerships with older people to deliver respectful, high-quality care. The strategy also strengthens provider accountability, especially through a tiered supervision model addressing sector risks, and a commitment to ongoing improvement in communication and education.

Focused on raising sector standards, the Commission will implement data-driven risk assessments and rigorous oversight to ensure compliance. With a view to the forthcoming Aged Care Act, the strategy sets the stage for continued reforms, ensuring a robust regulatory framework that both supports and holds accountable those responsible for the care of older Australians.
